MTA rat

Inspiration

I ran into yet another rat on the platform, and instead of recoiling, I found myself… oddly charmed? At this point, rats feel like a core part of the NYC transit experience. So I asked myself: What if I stopped seeing them as pests, and started seeing them as staff?

That’s how this project was born: imagining subway rats as hard-working MTA employees.

Design

To make the concept visible, I started with the visual identity of NYC’s rail workers:

Then, I reimagined the subway rat in full uniform—complete with vest, helmet, and… rolling eyes.

He’s just doing his job.

Creating AR Effect

I used artivive to build the effect.

I’m heartbroken by the layer limits… and the loading took forever.

AR experience

识别有点差

Tracking isn’t perfect—especially in dim lighting or with slight motion blur—but it works! Seeing a tiny track worker pop into existence on a subway platform or a notebook cover is weirdly satisfying.
